Grape Seed Oil
Grapeseed Oil is an exotic oil with a clean light and nutty taste, with a high smoke point approximately 420 F (216 C), making it safe to cook at high temperature. Grapeseed oil, for stir-fries, sauteing, fondue making and on salads. Virtually odorless; no bad smell making this oil exceptionally attractive to cooks who use it to make flavors stand out in a finished dish.
Benefits: It contains vitamins, minerals, protein, GLA and some vitamin E. Being a polyunsaturated oil that is rich in linoleic acid. At 68 - 76%,Containing the highest amounts of linoleic acid among any other oil. One of two essential fatty acids that the human body can not produce.One tablespoon of Grapeseed Oil provides close to the recommended daily allowance for Vitamin E.
Grape seed oil presumably lowers cholesterol, especially the harmful LDL cholesterol. On the other hand, it has been found to increase HDL, a good cholesterol, which reduces risks of coronary diseases. Some studies have shown that grape seed extract may be helpful in checking the growth of cancerous cells in the stomach, colon, prostrate and lung.
Certain compounds found in grape seed oil are believed to improve vision, flexibility of joints and blood circulation.
Many are of the opinion that it can also be effective in reducing the symptoms associated with allergies and asthma, as it suppresses the production of histamine (an amine released by the immune system during allergic reactions).
Grape seed oil is usually colorless with a high smoke point and is widely used in cooking. It can be used in baking, frying, salad dressings, marinades and sauces. It can also be used as an ingredient in making mayonnaise.
However, the oil available for cooking is different from the one used for massage.
Side note: Grapeseed oil is one of the most popular carrier oils used by massage therapists. It is a very fine oil that keeps moderately well and (when used as a massage medium) leaves skin with a smooth finish that is non-greasy. Good for acne and oily skin. A good oil for those whose skin does not seem to absorb oils easily.
